PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Wind and rain brought a temporary respite from the blazing sun Sunday. The weather also made for some interesting cloud formations (below).
The precipitation temporarily interrupted the North American sand Soccer Championships taking place at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. The games were delayed for about an hour, between 4 p.m. and 5:10 p.m., according to social media posts.

As expected, an active low pressure system (a mini-cyclone) moved eastward from halfway across the U.S. to get us this morning.
