Portsmouth police chief reveals new details in recent shootings involving juveniles

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Portsmouth Police Chief Stephen Jenkins shared details on multiple recent shootings with City Council during their Tuesday meeting, while also updating them on the city’s year-to-date crime statistics.

One of the shootings Jenkins addressed was a shooting that injured a juvenile late Sunday night on Maple Avenue. Jenkins said that shooting happened when two juveniles were inside a house playing with a firearm, and one accidentally shot the other.
