VBFD: 4 people, 2 dogs displaced after faulty electrical connection causes fire

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Crews in Virginia Beach are investigating an early morning fire in the Salem area of the city.

According to dispatch, crews were called to the 1600 block of Cliffwood Drive at 2:10 a.m. for the report of a working fire. Fire officials say the fire started in the back of the house and spread to the roof. Crews responded and were able to quickly get the fire out.

“We’re lucky we had a quick response, Captain Alex Lane said. “We’re right down the street. We arrived, there was fire coming form the roof and some fire out back. So, we made a quick knockdown and nobody was injured.”

Officials say most of the damage is on the exterior of the two-story home. Two adults, two kids and two dogs are now displaced. All residents were able to safely evacuate prior to the arrival of fire crews…
