Portsmouth’s own “Grumpy Cat” shuts down the Downtown Tunnel, up for adoption

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — The Portsmouth Humane Society takes in all kinds of smiling furry faces, but their newest guest comes off a little grumpy.“He’s a little grumpy,” said Portsmouth Humane Executive Director Dyanna Uchiek. “His preference is to be just generally left alone.”

He was succeeding at being left alone until one day in late May when he wandered into the Downtown Tunnel.“Portsmouth Animal Control officers responded,” Uchiek said. “They had a little back and forth with him because he was determined to not be caught.”

During rush hour traffic, the tunnel was closed down. Eventually, the officers captured the cat and took him to Portsmouth Humane…
