Community Celebrates 80th Birthday of Geraldine Talley Hobby

NORFOLK

Geraldine Talley Hobby celebrated her 80th Birthday with family, friends and well-wishers at the Slover Library on Saturday, June 7. Talley Hobby became a History Maker when she entered the all-white Northside Junior High School In 1962 as one of the 17 Black students to desegregate the Norfolk Public Schools under federal court order. She is now retired from a long and productive career in education in the Washington, D.C. area, where she uplifted generations of young people under her tutelage.
