Great Bridge Data Center voted down during Chesapeake city council meeting

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – In a 7-0 vote, Chesapeake city council voted not to move forward with the proposed data center in the Great Bridge area, according to Director of Public Communications in Chesapeake Heath Covey.

Covey told 10 On Your Side city council initially planned to motion to continue the project, until a member recommended a substitute motion to not move forward with the project as presented.

Dr. Richard West was excused from voting, while Daniel Whitaker abstained.
