HPD: 1 injured, 1 arrested in Fox Hill Road shooting

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A man has life-threatening injuries after being shot on Fox Hill Road Wednesday night, and police said they have arrested another man in connection to the shooting.

Hampton Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 200 block of Fox Hill Road, near a Harris Teeter grocery store, around 9:10 p.m. and when they arrived, officers found a 21-year-old man suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he is being treated, police said.

The incident began as a verbal altercation between the victim and the suspect, according to a preliminary investigation by Hampton Police. As they were arguing, the suspect pulled out a firearm and shot the victim, police said.

A 22-year-old Hampton man was arrested in connection with the shooting, police said. Detectives with the Hampton Police Division’s Major Crimes Unit are investigating the shooting.

It is one of two shootings in Hampton Wednesday evening that took place minutes apart. Police reported another shooting on Michigan Drive around 9:07 p.m.
