VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — At the Virginia Beach Correctional Center, several inmates have been hard at work over the last few months, working not only on good behavior, but also their education. All that hard work paid off June 26 with a GED graduation ceremony.
Fifty inmates in total completed the program, the largest in Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office history.
“We understand that these folks are going to come back into the community and live with us and in our neighborhoods,” said Virginia Beach Sheriff Rocky Holcomb, “so let’s give them a soft landing. I think a GED helps. It’s a good start.”…
