Chesapeake apartment fire displaces 12 adults and 18 children

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Six families have been displaced after an apartment fire in Chesapeake on Friday afternoon, according to the CFD.

Firefighters received calls in reference to an apartment fire in the 60 block of Grady Crescent around 1:05 p.m.

When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the apartment building. With the aid of Norfolk Fire-Rescue crews, the fire was quickly extinguished and deemed under control at approximately 1:40 p.m.

Six families, consisting of 12 adults and 18 children, have been displaced due to the fire. The Red Cross is assisting the families with lodging arrangements…
