NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — USNS Arctic, a fast combat support ship, has returned to Naval Station Norfolk just in time for the Fourth of July.
The ship returned after a nearly nine-month deployment, which saw its crew work closely with the Truman Carrier Strike Group in the Red Sea.
“The Arctic is a supply class AOE, so it’s designed to be a single ship, kind of one-stop shop for the entire carrier strike group,” said Capt. Jamie Murdock, commodore of Military Sealift command Atlantic. “Harry S. Truman happens to be moored right here across the pier.
