Chesapeake Police use license plate tech to locate suspect in South Military Highway shooting

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — The use of license plate recognition technology led to the capturing of a 40-year-old man in Chesapeake, police said. He was arrested in connection with a shooting last Saturday on South Military Highway that left one severely injured.

Officers say it happened around 4:40 p.m. in the 1700 block of South Military Highway on June 28.

Witnesses described the suspect fleeing in a gray Nissan but were unable to provide a license plate number.
