NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Drivers traveling on Interstate 64 west should expect a new traffic pattern at the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel beginning overnight Wednesday.
HRBT Expansion Project
To begin the next phase of construction for the new tunnel approaches at the South Island, HRBT expansion crews will shift both I-64 west lanes to the right, onto a temporary bridge that leads into the westbound tunnel, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
There will be construction signs, pavement markings and barrels directing drivers to the new, temporary lanes.
