Information sought after I-64 incident leaves woman with serious injuries: VSP

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia State Police is asking for the public’s assistance in finding a vehicle involved in an incident that left a woman with serious injuries.

According to officials, around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, a trailer hitch became dislodged from the back of a white Ford pick-up truck in the westbound lanes of I-64 near the 284A exit.

Once dislodged, the trailer hitch went through the passenger side windshield of a blue Honda Civic, striking the 29-year-old female passenger in the face, troopers said. The driver of the Civic then drove the passenger to Sentara Leigh Hospital, where she was then airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Troopers are now asking the public for any information regarding the pick-up truck. A photo of the possible make and model of the vehicle, as well as the trailer hitch, can be found below:

Anyone with any information on the vehicle or the incident is asked to contact the Virginia State Police by phone at 804-750-8788 or by email at [email protected]
