Virginia organization to hold peaceful protest against ICE presence in Hampton Roads

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Members of the Newport News/Hampton, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk and Williamsburg chapters of Virginia Organizing are holding a peaceful protest against the ICE presence and activity in the Hampton Roads area Tuesday starting at 4:45 p.m.

Organizers are asking people to meet at the old confederate statue on Main St. at 4:30 p.m., with plans to march from there to the Norfolk Federal building on Granby St.

The protest is in response to President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” in which the money allocated towards deportation efforts could allow for ICE to hire 10,000 deportation officers. Va. Organizing says this could make the immigrant communities of Hampton Roads even more unsafe…
