Man admits to stealing special-ordered window screens from Norfolk community

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Lucas South pleaded guilty to grand larceny last month for stealing and scrapping dozens of window security screens from a Norfolk community.

South, 38, was working as a subcontractor at the time. On Dec. 13, a supervisor from the company reported that 88 screens, valued at $250 each, had been stolen from their job site in the Oakleaf Forest community. The supervisor discovered some of the stolen screens at a local junkyard.

The stolen screens were special-ordered from out of state and made from metals such as stainless steel and aluminum. The supervisor who reported the theft was able to identify South after receiving a description from a junkyard employee who had seen him selling the screens over several months…
