PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Dontae Taylor was found not guilty Tuesday in the 2023 murdering of his 23-day old baby girl.
On Nov. 26, 2023, Portsmouth Police received a call in reference to an infant girl who was unresponsive. Medics began life-saving measures, and the infant was taken to CHKD, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
On Dec. 2, 2023, Taylor and the infant’s mother Chante Smith were arrested and charged with several felonies including aggravated murder, child abuse/neglect causing serious injury and cruelty to a child.
