NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk Public Schools announced they will be providing free meals for children under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.
NPS to provide free meals to all students for 2024-25 school year
According to a release, all schools under Norfolk Public Schools will participate through Community Eligibility Provisions (CEP), which was implemented by the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010.
Through the provisions, for each school day, each enrolled student will be able to receive a meal for breakfast and lunch at no charge. No application is required to receive the free meals.
In addition, all Norfolk schools hosting after school programs are encouraged to participate in the At-Risk Child and Adult Care Foodservice Program, which helps to provide snacks and/or dinner to students free of charge…
