VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – A topping out ceremony was recently held at the new 22-floor senior living community that’s part of Westminster-Canterbury in Virginia Beach. The ceremony is a sign that construction is nearing completion.
It’s been more than a year since the groundbreaking on the $450 million project. Construction began in Feb. 2024. The project is expected to take 30-36 monthly to fully complete.
A ceremony was held on July 30 with community leaders, future residents and builders on hand as the final steel beam was lifted into place.

The Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay Expansion will consist of 225 independent living apartments ranging from 710 sq. ft. studios to 2675 sq. ft. two-bedroom, two-bathroom with den apartments.
