VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The summer heat was un-bear-able for one little bear, who decided to seek relief by taking a dip in the North Landing River Friday morning.
One Virginia Beach resident, David Rodgers, who was walking along the North Landing River early Friday morning, was able to snap a picture of a black bear enjoying a swim in the river.
While the visual of a bear swimming in the water might be surprising to some, officials with the Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center of Roanoke said the sight is not all too surprising.
“It’s quite common to see bears swimming,” Chester Leonard, Executive Director for Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center said. “They love water to help them cool off and are quite prolific swimmers.”…
