SCC to discuss Dominion’s proposed rate increase in public hearing

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — The State Corporation Commission (SCC) will be holding a public hearing with Dominion Energy Tuesday afternoon for a proposed rate increase.

In early April, Dominion announced a proposal for a rate increase throughout the Commonwealth. Officials with Dominion said the increase will help them to “continue delivering reliable service and increasingly clean energy to its customers.”

The two proposals, one for 2026 and the other for 2027, would increase customer’s bills by an average of $21 per month within the next two years. Dominion states this is its first base rate increase since 1992.

The SCC is expected to discuss the proposal during a public hearing starting at noon, followed by an evidentiary hearing. The hearing will be streamed live on the commission’s website here
