PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — For more than 30 years, Katuria “Rose” Grant offered nutritional and emotional nourishment to the children in Portsmouth Public Schools, and anyone else on her radar.

“My mom had a beautiful smile,” said Tiffany Grant, Katuria Grant’s eldest daughter. “She had a smile that would light up the room.”

Her mother’s light was dimmed early Wednesday morning when she reported for work at Churchland High School. According to Portsmouth Police, at 6 a.m., Katuria Grant was struck by a vehicle in the 4300 block of Cedar Lane, near the school.

No description of the vehicle was offered, no details were offered on the details of the crash, and police did not state whether the driver faces charges…
