Virginia Beach native graduates from the U.S. Navy’s officer training academy

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach native Brita Oliver has graduated from the U.S. Navy’s Limited Duty Officer/Warrant Officer/Chief Warrant Officer Academy on Aug. 29, according to a press release.

Oliver graduated from Ocean Lakes High School in 2007, joining the Navy seven years later. Before she started at the academy, she was a first class petty officer.

The academy is one of Rhode Island-based Officer Training Command Newport’s four officer accession programs, preparing officers to become leaders by developing skills in various topics. Oliver’s father attended the same academy 28 years prior…
