Tree Removal Crane Tips Over, Falls Onto Virginia Beach Apartment Building

Residents of a Virginia Beach apartment building are counting themselves lucky after a tree removal crane tipped over and fell on the building, leaving the truck it was attached to tipped high in the air.

The Virginia Beach Fire Department said crews responded to a technical rescue call at the Pembroke Square Apartments in the Aragona Village neighborhood at around 10:44 a.m. on Friday. They arrived to find a crane had tipped over, with its boom landing across the roof of the apartment building and pulling the truck into the air.

Photos shared by the fire department show a large truck-mounted crane tipped backwards, with the cab two stories in the air and the boom on the roof of the apartment. The crane was at the building for routine tree removal when the accident occurred…
