Driver sentenced to 10 years following wrong-way crash on I-264

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – A driver was sentenced to 10 years in prison Tuesday after driving his vehicle through an off-ramp and driving the wrong way on I-264 W Sept. 27, 2024, according to the Commonwealth’s Attorney in the City of Virginia Beach.

The driver, 27-year-old Davian Isaiah Wallace, pleaded guilty June 25 to charges of:

  • 2 counts of reckless DUI resulting in a victim permanently impaired
  • DUI of reckless disregard resulting in a victim seriously injured
  • DUI and
  • Driving on a suspended license.

After Wallace drove the wrong way down I-264 he a car straight on, seriously injuring the two passengers in the other car. The two victims’ experienced injuries such as: broken left arm, broken ribs, a broken neck and several broken teeth.

The crash also caused the victims’ car to hit several other cars, in which once victim experienced a concussion and cognitive communication deficit…
