City of Virginia Beach rehires former officer found liable for excessive force

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Eight years after being found liable for excessive force in a civil lawsuit, former police officer Christopher Mackie has been rehired by the City of Virginia Beach in a non-sworn position.

According to city spokeswoman Ali Weatherton-Shook, Mackie was hired Thursday in a position with Virginia Beach Emergency Communications and Citizen Services.
