Chesapeake firetruck responding to medical emergency struck by vehicle, officials say

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) –A Chesapeake firetruck was involved in a vehicle crash while responding to a medical emergency Friday morning.

According to officials, around 7:45 a.m., a Chesapeake Fire Department engine was traveling to Perry Street to respond to a medical emergency when they were struck by a vehicle on the passenger-side door at the intersection of Poindexter Street and Liberty Street.

Officials said the fire engine was operating with lights, siren and an air-horn at the time of the crash…
