While we did have some wet weather recently, we actually still needed some more in the long-term. Luckily, today’s rain won’t last long. The rain comes from a weak area of low pressure that has crept up along the coast.
The rain started up last night, and scattered rain showers continued into this morning. So far we’ve picked up some pretty good amounts of rainfall.
Norfolk picked up about three quarters of an inch.
The rain will taper off through midday as the area of low pressure moves to the northeast. Then we should have some gradual clearing as we go through the afternoon. High pressure will build in from the west. Winds will be increasing out of the north. We’ll have some gusts to 25mph between the mid-morning and the late afternoon.
This will keep the temperatures down. High temps will only be in the low 60s later today.
We’ll definitely clear out tonight. Winds will also lighten up. So temps will drop down to the mid 40s with a few upper 30s possible inland.
Tomorrow we are going to be high-and-dry for Election day. We’ll have high pressure in the region, and that will provide lots of sunshine through the day. We’ll have a chilly start, but temps will climb to the mid 60s in the afternoon.
We’ll have lighter winds out of the northwest…
