HRT, Norfolk Fire-Rescue host training simulation

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — On Sunday morning, Norfolk Fire-Rescue and Hampton Roads Transit held an emergency exercise. It included a simulated scenario where someone was hit by the Tide Light Rail and needed help.

“We earlier had a dummy underneath who they rescued,” explained Thomas Becher, Hampton Roads Transit’s communications manager. “We had to raise the train a little bit to get the person out and simulate a rescue.”

The simulation was held at Harbor Park in Norfolk at the tracks. HRT said it’s imperative to keep up with the annual training…
