Mayflower Marathon food drive set to serve over 1 million meals

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – The FM99 and 106.9 The Fox 29th Annual Mayflower Marathon Food Drive is looking like a huge success, with staff associated with the event reporting that just over 1 million meals (and counting) will be served with the donations that have been made.

The food drive took place simultaneously at five locations from 5:30 a.m. on Friday until 3 p.m. on Saturday. Locations included:

  • Kroger at Coliseum Central in Hampton
  • The Moyock Welcome Center in North Carolina
  • Kroger in Suffolk
  • Kroger in Tabb
  • Lynnhaven Mall in Virginia Beach

All food and monetary donations collected in Virginia Beach and Suffolk went to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore.
