USS McFaul deploys from Norfolk after training and maintenance

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The USS McFaul docked at Naval Station Norfolk late last year for maintenance, and since then, the crew of roughly 300 has gone through months of training leading up to the scheduled deployment Tuesday.

Families lined the pier to send off their loved ones just days before Thanksgiving. They will spend the holiday season apart as the USS McFaul sets out to sea. It is an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer, part of the bread and butter of the U.S. Navy.
