Armed suspect steals cash and cigarettes in Portsmouth robbery

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Portsmouth Police are searching for an armed robbery suspect who stole cash and cigarettes from a convenience store Tuesday afternoon.

On Dec. 2, officers responded to the 3200 block of George Washington Highway around 1:30 p.m. for a report of a robbery. Police said the suspect, identified as 46-year-old Robert Lee Jones, brandished a weapon while stealing cash from the register and cigarettes.

The suspect is described as having brown hair and brown eyes. Surveillance footage captured him wearing a dark-colored jacket over a dark hoodie with orange and white shoes during the robbery.
