VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – The Navy is assessing the potential environmental effects that would happen if they transition from FA-18E/F squadrons to F-35C Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter squadrons and are deciding between Naval Air Station Lemoore or NAS Oceana.
As of right now, NAS Oceana does not have any F-35s, but Rep. Jen Kiggans says its the next step in the right direction to get the Navy fighter jets to the East Coast.

“It’s very important that we have the latest and greatest technology in the hands of our East Coast warfighters,” Kiggans said. “Our F-18s are aging. They’re 30-plus-years-old.”
