Family of Virginia Beach student suspended for alleged drug use says incident removed from permanent record

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Virginia Beach City Public Schools has deferred the suspension of Salem Middle School student Dariel Trinidad after his family challenged the initial drug-related disciplinary action, his family told 10 On Your Side.

After an appeal hearing held Monday, Trinidad will be allowed to return to classes. The decision also removes the incident from his permanent record.

The issue began in October when two students told school staff they suspected Trinidad was high.
