Man sentenced after pleading guilty to domestic violence against girlfriend

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY)– A man was sentenced after pleading guilty to domestic violence against his girlfriend earlier this year.

A judge sentenced 30-year-old Jason Tyler Johnson to six years in prison to three domestic violence-related felonies for attacking his then-girlfriend at their residence.

On January 10, Johnson became angry at his then-girlfriend, accusing her of stealing one of his anti-anxiety pills. After being told he had consumed all of the pills, Johnson threw the victim on the floor and proceeded to punch, kick and bite her. Johnson then placed the victim in a wrestling hold and strangled her with both hands. The victim clawed Johnson’s arms to get him to let go and ran out of the residence. Johnson then chased her and dragged her back into the residence across a gravel parking lot…
