This story was sparked by a 10 On Your Side special report from August. That report was a deep dive into the coercion and corruption of disgraced former Norfolk Police Detective Robert Glenn Ford, the detective who handled the investigation into the death of Vincent Burdett.

Ford’s key witness pointed to Gilbert Merritt III, but years later, that witness recanted, freeing Merritt from his more than 20 years in prison. Now he and the victim’s family are trying to rebuild their lives.
