VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — At just 22 years old, Carri Muegge was focused on living a normal life, until a routine doctor’s visit in early September changed everything.
Muegge went to the doctor believing she needed glasses because she was having trouble seeing. Instead, doctors discovered her blood pressure was dangerously high and immediately sent her to the emergency room.
“She couldn’t see, so I thought she needed glasses,” said Carri Muegge’s mother, Cheryl Muegge. “When we got there, her blood pressure was off the hook. They sent us to the emergency room, and by nine in the morning, she had end-stage kidney failure — both kidneys. It was shocking.”…
