Virginia Beach police investigate hateful graffiti at ViBe District crosswalk

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Beach Police Department is investigating graffiti found at a rainbow crosswalk at 19th Street and Cypress Avenue in the ViBe District.

A police report has been completed and the incident is under active investigation, according to VBPD. The city’s Public Works Department has now removed the graffiti.

City Councilman Michael Berlucchi denounced the graffiti on X, saying “I can’t believe this is VB. I am disturbed to see hateful graffiti defacing our crosswalk. For 10 years, it has symbolized love and belonging. This is unacceptable and does not reflect who we are.”…
