Eastern Virginia–North Carolina Weather Alert: Cold Rain and Icy Conditions Build Late This Week

Norfolk, Virginia – A prolonged stretch of wet and increasingly cold winter weather is expected to impact eastern Virginia and much of North Carolina beginning Thursday, bringing periods of rain and a growing risk of freezing temperatures that could create slick travel conditions through the weekend and into early next week.

According to the National Weather Service and NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center, eastern portions of both states are expected to see above-normal precipitation through Monday as a strong cold front pushes through the eastern United States.
