NORFOLK, Va. — The overall condition of Hampton Roads’ bridges is improving despite aging infrastructure, according to the 2025 State of Transportation report presented by the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO).
The organization’s annual report examines a wide range of regional transportation metrics, including air travel, roadway pavement conditions, and bridge infrastructure.
Of the region’s 1,279 bridges, 2.7% are classified as being in “poor condition.” That means certain structural components require monitoring, repair or both, the report said…
