Virginia Beach man sentenced to six years in prison for $2M auto loan fraud scheme

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Virginia Beach man has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for his role in a wide-ranging fraud scheme involving auto loans, according to court records.

Adrian Knight, 41, was convicted of conspiracy to commit mail, bank, and wire fraud, as well as wire fraud and bank fraud. Prosecutors said Knight owned Ace Auto Sales, LLC, a dealership based in Chesapeake.

From March 2019 through January 2023, Knight led a fraud conspiracy in which he and others submitted fraudulent auto loan applications to multiple financial institutions. Court documents state that Ace Auto Sales was falsely listed as the seller on buyers’ agreements and orders for vehicles that were not actually part of the dealership’s inventory…
