Officer Timothy Schock’s legacy honored with memorial lake renaming

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Chesapeake City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to rename Oak Grove Lake as the Officer Timothy Schock Memorial Lake, honoring a police officer who died in the line of duty more than a decade ago.

Officer Timothy Schock, a member of the Chesapeake Police Department, died during a training exercise at the lake on Dec. 20, 2011.

Council Member Amanda Newins, who requested the renaming, shared the decision in a Facebook post following the vote.

“It was my honor to request that Oak Grove Lake be renamed as the ‘Officer Timothy Schock Memorial Lake,’” Newins wrote. “May Officer Schock’s legacy, sacrifice, and service always be remembered.”…
