VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Four decades ago, Clarence Neely Jr. was only 5 when he fell through the ice on Lake Whitehurst in Virginia Beach and died.
As Hampton Roads braces for extreme cold weather, Clarence Neely Sr. woke up Friday morning to memories on what is the worst day of his life.
“It was 42 years ago already, and it seems like it was just yesterday,” Neely Sr. said. “Losing a child is something you think about every day. It’s not a day that passes that I don’t think about what we call him, Little Clarence. That day was a day that I’ll never forget.”…
