Icy conditions linger in Williamsburg after winter storm moves out

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — While the winter storm that brought snow, sleet, rain, and ice to Hampton Roads over the weekend has moved out of Virginia, hazardous road conditions are still a concern on Monday, particularly in parts of the Peninsula and Williamsburg.

Snow has melted in many areas, but ice continues to linger on untreated roads, bridges, and parking lots. Meteorologists with 13News Now say the lack of a significant warm-up means slick conditions could last longer than drivers expect.

“If you come across a patch of ice that looks like it’s wet, that can likely be black ice,” said Ryan Adcock, a public relations specialist with AAA Tidewater. “That’s why it’s important to reduce your speed and drive with an extra layer of caution.”…
