CPD: Man attempts to steal over $1k worth of merchandise from department store

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY)– Police in Chesapeake are searching for a man who attempted to steal merchandise from a department on Green Briar Parkway.

According to police, on January 14, a man entered the store, grabbed a shopping cart, and selected several high-value items from the kitchen and stationery sections. He then exited the store to move his vehicle. The man then re-entered the store and pushed the cart past all registers without paying.

Store employees recovered the merchandise, which included a FoodSaver, Ninja Crispy Pro, and two Cricut Maker 4 machines. The total of the recovered merchandise came to $1,127.98.

Police say the suspect fled the area in a black Kia minivan with yellow New Jersey license plates that possibly begin with ZOS or NOS…
