Starting after Jan. 29, MacArthur Mall’s Regal Cinema will be out of commission, creating a tragedy for the movie lovers of Norfolk.
The closure comes after a slew of the mall’s name-brand stores rapidly deserting the now barren facility beginning in 2019. What began with Nordstrom Rack not renewing their lease with the mall has resulted over time in the notorious ghost-like feel of walking through the desolate plaza.
Even through the storefront closures, Regal MacArthur was the mall’s saving grace. Situated on the third floor of MacArthur, the theater maintained the retro ‘80s vibe with its bright, neon colors and old-school setup, making it feel encapsulated in the time of the mall’s heyday…
