Virginia – Flags snap hard in the wind as frigid air surges off the Atlantic, cutting through coats and numbing hands within minutes. The cold is immediate and unforgiving early this morning across southeast Virginia, with conditions turning dangerous for anyone caught outside too long.
According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, an Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect until 10 a.m. Wind chills have dropped as low as two degrees below zero across coastal Virginia and nearby northeast North Carolina.
