NORFOLK, Va. — With Valentine’s Day on Saturday, the FBI Norfolk Field Office is issuing a warning about the growing threat of romance scams.
Criminals will create fake online identities to gain a victim’s trust and affection, and manipulate them into sending money, sharing personal information, or providing access to financial accounts.
