New Williamsburg clinic expands bleeding disorder care access for Hampton Roads adults

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Adults living with bleeding disorders in Hampton Roads now have a new option for specialized care without the long drive many people have faced for years.

Last fall, VCU Health launched a new adult bleeding disorders quarterly clinic at VCU Health at William & Mary in Williamsburg, expanding services into the region for patients who previously had to travel to Richmond for treatment. The clinic operates through VCU’s Central Virginia Center for Coagulation Disorders.

Bleeding disorders, including hemophilia and other inherited conditions, prevent blood from clotting properly. In severe cases, this can lead to internal bleeding, joint damage, and life-threatening complications…
