Local animal shelter goes from empty to full, adoptions urged

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The SPCA animal shelterat the corner of Ballantine and Virginia Beach boulevards has seen a complete turnabout in less than two months. In December, it was empty and all the dogs were adopted, but now, it’s filled to capacity with dogs waiting for a new home.

Disabled Army veteran Maddisson Gilbert had already adopted Cain from the shelter several months ago.

“He’s the ultimate napping buddy,” Gilbert said. “He knows a lot of tricks, so he definitely keeps you busy and helps that way with your mental health.”…
