History repeats itself for local businessman besieged by massive fires

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Sunday morning, the sounds of praise were smoked out by a raging fire in the 200 block of Liberty Street in Chesapeake, where Fred Roundtree operated A-1 Auto for 25 years.

“Yesterday, about 11:30, I got a call from the church, and they said my building was on fire. Roundtree said. “When I got here, I seen fire blazing everywhere.”

Firefighters from Chesapeake and Norfolk rushed to the scene with plans for an aggressive attack, but because of the nature of the inferno, first responders had to back down and use ladders to attack the blaze…
